Position Overview

Family Assistance Program is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Human Trafficking Advocate - Youth to join our team!

This position provides trauma-informed, survivor-centered advocacy and support to youth impacted by human trafficking, commercial sexual exploitation, homelessness, and other challenging circumstances.

The ideal candidate is passionate about empowering young people, building trusting relationships, and helping survivors access the resources they need to achieve safety, stability, and independence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide emotional support, advocacy, crisis intervention, and individualized safety planning for youth ages 12-24.
  • Assist youth in identifying personal goals, accessing community resources, and developing independence.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships through empathy, encouragement, and nonjudgmental communication.
  • Collaborate with case managers, social workers, and community partners to coordinate services.
  • Support outreach and educational efforts to increase awareness of human trafficking and available resources.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, confidentiality, and professional boundaries.
  • Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation support when needed.
  • Participate in staff trainings and promote a culturally responsive, trauma-informed environment.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with at-risk youth, survivors of violence, or individuals impacted by trauma.
  • Understanding of trauma-informed care and survivor-centered advocacy.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and crisis intervention skills.
  • Ability to remain professional, compassionate, and calm in challenging situations.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a team.
  • Must meet applicable Community Care Licensing (CCL) requirements, including background clearance, fingerprinting, TB testing, health screening, and mandated reporter requirements.

Work Schedule & Environment

  • Full-time position.
  • Flexible availability may be required, including evenings and weekends.
  • Work is performed in both office and residential settings.
