Trafficking Advocate

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Providing support and assistance to human trafficking survivors.

· Providing crisis response in an emergency.

· Medical, legal, and community advocacy.

· Support in identifying, navigating, and securing safe shelter and housing.

· Developing and delivering targeted training and public awareness materials about sex trafficking and labor trafficking.

· Collaborating with law enforcement to develop a trauma-informed process of interviewing identified adult victims of trafficking.

· Collaborating with leadership on other tasks as they are identified.

· Be on-call to respond to the emergency needs of victims.

· Escort victims to court and other appointments when needed.

· Assist with support groups, address mental health issues, and make referrals.

· Conduct weekly and/or monthly case management.

· Willing to travel between offices, units, and businesses during on-duty hours.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The employee must be able to sit and stand for long periods, Handle, grasp, and feel objects and equipment, lift up to 50 pounds, reach with hands and arms, extend both arms above the head and/or go below the waist, bend or squat, walk and climb stairs and ladders, hear in a moderately noisy environment, and use a phone or headset for extended periods.

Work Conditions: Most of the duties for this position are performed indoors, although travel between work sites may be required. The incumbent may be exposed to some noise (electrical, mechanical, or human) on an occasional basis, as well as other related hazards associated with an office environment.

MINOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Assist with training and speaking engagement to educate on human trafficking

· Assist Volunteer Coordinator with training of volunteers

· Input client data into the data management system

· Complete weekly and monthly program reports

· On-call duties once a month for the week

· Positively promote the agency services in the community

· Other assignments and duties as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB

Education:

A bachelor's degree in mental health, social services, international relations, business, or communication is preferred.

A high school diploma, equivalent (G.E.D.), or associate of arts degree is accepted.

Experience:

Experience working with victims of human trafficking

Experience working with victims of abuse, runaways, exploited, or sexual abuse victims.

Excellent Documentation skills.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Experience with crisis intervention and coordinating external service.

Ability to motivate and establish rapport with victims.

Experience with public advocacy and collaborating with child protective, social, and law enforcement services.

Other:

Bilingual Preferred

Excellent Computer Skills (Data Entry, MS Office)

Pass Physical and TB Test

Valid Driver's License

Pass Background Check (Live Scan)

Proof of Auto Insurance and Valid Registration

Have a good driving record (no more than 2 points)
